Langcourt Ltd. was established in Banwell (near Weston-super-Mare) in the South West of England in 1984 to offer a repair service for chrome, nikasil™, and electrofusion™ coated engine cylinder bores. Most of the cylinders that we saw in those early days were from road racing bikes, dirt bikes and gearbox karts. Over the years, we have developed our processes but have kept to our speciality of cylinder plating and repair work. The range of applications has grown, but we have resisted the temptation to get involved in porting, crank rebuilding and other specialised "tuning" work to focus on what we know and understand.
We have worked on cylinders ranging from radio controlled model airplanes and UAV’s to offshore racing boats and Formula 1 cars, and we have the knowledge and expertise to solve your cylinder problem.
Several of our earliest employees are still with us, now with a wealth of experience that enhances our ability to answer almost any customer query and ensuring the very best in quality and customer service.
In the late ‘80s we relocated to larger premises in Oldmixon Crescent, Weston-super-Mare and within a few years we had completely filled the capacity of that building, but due to the lack of suitable manufacturing space we had no option but to stay where we were. Late in 2009, we managed to buy larger premises in the same area, and in the summer of 2010 we moved in after spending almost a year (and an enormous amount of money!) equipping it to suit our needs.
Even before that latest move, we were still growing - in 1994 we opened a purpose built facility in Auburn, Alabama to service the American market, and in 1999 we were proud to be able to announce a joint venture in Vancouver, British Columbia, to expand our services still further. An additional production facility was opened in late 2007 in New Zealand and is proving to be a great success, serving customers in Australia and South East Asia as well as New Zealand itself. Our processes are also used in Argentina and Brazil. We also have a dedicated sales and marketing office in Austria serving our existing dealers and new customers in most of mainland Europe. We try hard to offer a quick and efficient service, and most orders are completed within 4 to 6 working days. Our target is to give our customers a consistent 5 working day turnaround, but schedules may change depending on workload, and so if turnaround time is very important to you.
